Interior design glossary (5): Interesting terms to know

Fifth  post in which we are defining a glossary of interior design (5) with different interesting terms to know. Interior design is a world full of curiosities and many concepts that are worth discovering.

We continue with the following terms about the world of interior design:

Industrial

A decorative style that is a reference and is inspired by the factories. It began in the 70’s in New York and uses much black color, as well as other dark colors, raw woods and metal in its aesthetic. The decoration incorporates industrial details such as clear walls, oxides and pickled finishes.

Jacuzzi

It refers to a type of bath that can be installed indoors or outdoors and has the particularity of having pressurized water jets that create bubbles in the water with a hydromassage effect.

Kilim

It is a type of geometric pattern, usually quite mixed colors, which is inspired by the fabrics of Asia and North Africa. It is able to animate the most neutral environment and put an ethnic note. On many occasions, when referring to carpets of this type one speaks directly of kílim, omitting the word carpets.

Loft

When in decoration and interior design we talk about loft or loft type, some of the premises that define this type of construction are assumed. These are open spaces without partitions, high ceilings and large windows. Wood and metal are recurring materials in these types of spaces. Undoubtedly, it is a concept widely used in recent times when we talk about types of homes.

Louver

Often we can find this term when we are interested in doors or windows. This concept refers to the name given to windows or doors designed with sheets of wood, metal or glass.
